Fermionic Field Theory and Gauge Interactions on Random Lattices

چکیده

Random-lattice fermions have been shown to be free of the doubling problem if there are no interactions or interactions of a non-gauge nature. However, gauge interactions impose stringent constraints as expressed by the Ward-Takahashi identities which could revive the free-field suppressed doubler modes in loop diagrams. After introducing a formulation for fermions on a new kind of random lattice, we compare random, naive and Wilson fermions in two dimensional Abelian background gauge theory. We show that the dou-blers are revived for random lattices in the continuum limit, while demonstrating that gauge invariance plays the critical role in this revival. Some implications of the persistent doubling phenomenon on random lattices are also discussed.

Dynamical Fermion on Random-Block Lattice

The problem of formulating the chiral fermion field on space-time lattices has been discussed from the viewpoint of funtional integrals [1]. I argued that the functional integral measure provided by any single lattice ( hypercubical lattice or random lattice ) is not sufficent to yield fermionic functional integrals to agree with the continuum field theory. My proposal of using an ensemble of r...

Hidden Symmetry and Quantum Phases in Spin-3/2 Cold Atomic Systems

Optical traps and lattices provide a new opportunity to study strongly correlated high spin systems with cold atoms. In this article, we review the recent progress on the hidden symmetry properties in the simplest high spin fermionic systems with hyperfine spin F = 3/2, which may be realized with atoms of Cs, Be, Ba, Ba, and Hg. A generic SO(5) or isomorphically, Sp(4) symmetry is proved in suc...

How Do Fermions Behave on a Random Lattice ?

Comparing random lattice, naive and Wilson fermions in two dimensional abelian background gauge field, we show that the doublers suppressed in the free field case are revived for random lattices in the continuum limit unless gauge interactions are implemented in a non–invariant way.

North-Holland, Amsterdam MONTE CARLO SIMULATION OF FERMIONIC FIELDS*

Monte Carlo simulation has become a prime tool in the study of nonperturbative phenomena in quantum field theory. The results for pure gauge fields have been spectacular, giving some of our first quantitative information on the solution of the SU(3) gauge theory of the strong interactions [1]. Despite the successes, progress has been considerably slower in attempts to extend these calculations ...
